It has been generally accepted that copper, zinc, manganese, molybdenum, selenium and germanium have some anti-cancer effect. A quantitative study of these 6 elements contained in the serum, tumor tissue, paratumor tissue as well as the metastatic lymph nodes was carried out with atomic absorption spectrophotometry in 30 patients of esophageal carcinoma pre- and postoperatively together with 10 cases of normal subjects served as controls. The results showed that the level of zinc in patient with esophageal carcinoma was markedly lower than that in normal subjects (p<0.01); the preoperative serum selenium was higher than mat postoperatively (p<0.01) and also higher than that of normal person (p<0.01).The content of manganese was markedly reduced (p<0.05) in the tumor tissue and lymph nodes in comparison with the paratumor tissue. Nevertheless, the role played by these trace elements in the patients of esophageal carcinoma has not yet been clearly understood. As we know that the immunotherapy is an important method for curing malignant tumors and adoptive immunotherapy plays a leading role mere. TIL is considered the most effective in adoptive immunocytes but its wide use is very much confined because it is rather hard to harvest and difficult to proliferate in vivo and in vitro and because a very high concentration is required. In order to understand the effects on TIL's growth and its subgroup phenotype, we selected trace elements such as selenium , zinc, germanium-132 which have close relationship with esophageal carcinoma and have good prospects, to affect TIL from human esophageal carcinoma. The results were as follow: selenium at 2ppm concentration obviously promoted the proliferations of TIL and CD3, CD4 and CD8 of the subgroup; but at 4ppm the inhibitive effect was noticed ,...
