The theory of seven emotions is an essential component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which is based on the holistic concept of mind and body in ancient China, followed along with the understanding overall process of TCM, from theories to practices, from etiology, syndromes to emotion therapy, covering a wide range. Owing to the mind and body mutuality emphasis, traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of human health and disease, and demonstrate the different attitudes of Western medicine, and form a different style medical model. The peculiar value of such a theory has been caused fully attention nowadays while conversion of modern medical model has been greatly promoted in modern medical science.This study is a phylogeny of seven emotions theory;indeed, it is an attempt associate with psychological research. Through document research, we coordinate the developing process of cause of emotional diseases, diseases of emotions and emotional therapy of TCM. Meanwhile, we analyze these from the perspective of psychology and introduce achievements in psychology research.The theory of seven emotions itself is a very valuable medical psychology proposition and a generalization of life and clinical experience concluded by ancient Chinese doctors. Though the unique approach of traditional Chinese culture, it interprets human emotional activities and the relationship with the disease. Meanwhile, it develops a corresponding psychological intervention methods—emotional therapy of TCM. Facts have proved that seven emotions theory is not only reasonable but also to be effective.Because of the impact of philosophical ontology, Traditional Chinese medicine has not been able to reveal the underlyingscientific principles of seven emotions theory. This is its lack, but precisely for the development of Chinese medicine psychology provides new growth points. Continuous exchange of cultural integration in the Eastern and Western worlds today, How to make it better rationality and effectiveness of play, which should be shared with the traditional Chinese medicine and psychology topics.
