Objective:To show the different approaches to the treatment of psycho-socio-emotional disorders(i.e.depression)using acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques;to demonstrate and identify the correlation between mind and body;to acknowledge the importance and forward movement of integration, with regards to Integrative Medicine.Method:For each patient in my clinical evidence, based on TCM diagnosis,a determination of excess or deficiency syndrome was necessary to conclude whether bloodletting was an appropriate treatment strategy.Bloodletting therapy was administered to patients with excess syndromes. To the patients with deficiency syndrome, tonifying techniques were administered before bleeding therapy, through the use of regular acupuncture and herbal medicinals.Bloodletting can be used as a treatment for the secondary symptoms derived from depression, thus treating the depressive state acquired through the excess or deficiency syndrome diagnosed by TCM doctors. Results:What I can determine from having witnessed and participated in the treatments at the public affiliated hospital of Nanjing and Guo Yi Tang,a private clinic in the NJUCM campus,is that bloodletting is,in fact, the quickest therapeutic approach to moving qi and blood and getting rid of any tension within the body, releasing any stored emotions in the organs, correcting the free flow of qi and blood. Thus being an accurate approach to the correct treatment for depression.Discussion:Investigative research has been conducted, specifically in the past decade,in order to find the correlation between mind and body. From the World Health Organization to the National Institute of Health and Harvard University, this bridge is being built as we attain a better understanding of the influences our emotions have on our daily lives. Conclusion:Our emotions are the GENESIS of our main, modern day diseases, and it is our awareness, integration and synthesis of thus "feelings" that can bring about breakthroughs in the further acquired knowledge of psycho neuroendo immunology?PNEI Within the field of TCM,only through correct Pattern Differentiation or Zheng determination can the human being return to a state of homeostasis.
