Objective: To develop a new Lumbar Absorbable Design Fusion Cage made of absorbable material Poly-DL-lactic Acid (PDLLA), and put it into animal experiment to observe its influence on the fusion process and its transformation during degrading period. and put it into clinical study to observe and evaluate its clinical effect, to research its significance of clinical application, to offer basic information for its further development and clinical application.Method:â‘ To design the LADFC made of degradable material by consulting relative domestic and overseas literatures in recent years.â‘¡The LADFC was implanted into intervertebral disc to find out its influence on bone fusion at different phases and reveal the degrading process of the material in spine fusion by gross observation , X-ray,CT,histology ,electronic microscope,biomechanical test.compared with normal interbody fusion.â‘¢The cases with Lumbar diseases were treated with Posterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion and pedical screw fixation.They are followed up for 36w the patiens were evaluated by VAS score,ODI score,JOA score,X-ray and multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) to observe local reaction,fusion rate of the bone graft, complication and improvements of the lumbar antecurvature , the height of intervertebral space, the spinal cord function and the degrading process of the material ,To evaluate the clinical effect of LADFC compared with the cases treated by bone graft and interbody fusion with autograft.Result:â‘ The lumbar Cage was successfully made which was Wedge shape and made of 80*104 molecular weight PDLLA absorbable material.â‘¡The bone growth was influenced in the early stage of fusion, while at 24w ,the Cage have nothing to do with the fusion,the solid bone fusion was achieved in the end at about 36w.â‘¢The degrading progress was non-lineal. In the early stage of fusion, the main degradation focus on the superficial decomposition and decrease of molecular weight,the Cage can keep its basic form.
