ObjectiveTo compare the clinical therapeatic efficacy between posterior lumbar interbody fusion and cage interbody fusion combined with general spine system(GSS-II) fixation for Treating lumbar spondylolisthesisMethodFrom February 2007 and April 2010,32 patients with lumbar spondylolisthesis were retrospected. They were divided in two groups: cage interbody fusion group(A) and posterior lumbar interbody fusion group(B).In group A,17 patients were treated by cage interbody fusion combined with GSS-II, including 7 males and 10 females with average age at 48.3 years(range from 37 to 66 years);the course of disease was average 2.6 years(range 0.5–6 years);Grade I 9 cases and Grade II 8 cases according to the classification by Meyerding. In group B, 15 patients were treated by without cage interbody fusion combined with GSS-II, including 7 males and 8 females with average age at 51.4 years(range from 38 to 71 years);the course of disease was average 3.2 years(range 0.8–6.3 years);Grade I 8 cases and Grade II 7 cases according to the classification by Meyerding.Compare the index between two groups as follows: The scoring system of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA) for low back pain and the scoring system of Visual analogue scale, the scoring system of Oswestry disability Index and In radiographic assessmen(the index of Taillard, the relative posterior disc height and the fusion rate). All datas between the two groups were calculated by using SPSS10.0 statistical software.ResultsThe follow-up period of group A extened from 7 months to 21 months(means 14.5 months),the follow-up period of group B extened from 9 months to 20 months(means 16 months). There were statistically significant differences between preoperation and postoperation in two groups according to JOA,VAS and ODI(p<0.05),but there were no statistically significant differences between two groups(p>0.05).According to Taillard Index and Relative height of veterbral space, the difference was statistically significant between preoperation and postoperation in two groups separately(P<0.05),also there were statistically significant differences in follow-up between two groups(P<0.05),group A was better than group B. Spinal fusion rate of group A was 100% and group B was 93.3%,there were no statistically significant differences between two groups(P>0.05)。ConclusionBoth treatments have satisfactory preliminary clinical result for the treatment of the lumbar spondylolisthesis.Complete decompression, the recovery of constructive properties and stability of spine can be obtained, and the rates of reduction, improvement of symptom and complication have no significant difference. In the maintenance of intervertebral space height, the fromer was weaker than the latter.
