Background and Objective:It is well know that cardiac hypertrophy was the common pathology of many cardiovascular diseases, which was characterized by the increased cell volume, the increased protein synthesis, fetal gene expression up-regulation. early cardiac hypertrophy maybe helpful for maintaining the normal cardiac function, but sustained cardiac hypertrophy will inevitably give rise to heart failure, even sudden death. so, it was very important to prevent or reverse the cardiac hypertrophy for the cardiovascular diseases patients.Cardiomyocyte intracellular Ca2+([Ca2+]i) played important role in the forming of cardiac hypertrophy and was the convergence of different signals which give rise to cardiac hypertrophy. [Ca2+]i was regulated by the cardiomyocyte entracellular Ca2+ influx and the cardiomyocyte intracellular Ca2+ release from SR(sarcoplasmic reticulum, SR). angiotensin II and Ryanodine can speed the cardiomyocyte entracellular Ca2+ influx and the intracellular Ca2+ release, respectively. Which can be inhibited by nifedipine and ruthenium red, respectively. In the past decades, the study on cardiac hypertrophy was concentrated on positive cardiac hypertrophy. namely, how did the hypertrophic stimuli lead to cardiac hypertrophy, what signals were concern with the hypertrophy process, and how did these signals cross with each other. Traditional drugs, includingβ-blocker, calcium channel blocker and ACEI, and so on, can alleviate the hypertrophy, but all of them cannot fully reverse the hypertrophy. so, it was of pivotal importance to explore the negative regulation mechanism of cardiac hypertrophy. We hypothesized that there was a negative regulation mechanism in the cardiac hypertrophy process. which means that under the hypertrphic stimuli, some endogenous cardiac hypertrophy inhibitors were released to counteract the cardiac hypertrophy degree, the balance of hypertrophic stimuli and the negative cardiac hypertrophic inhibitors was the key to prevent the hypertrophy process from be aggravating.
