Objective: Vascular graft is routinely applied and ubiquitously used in cardiovascular diseases, but the supply of autologaus artery or vein may not be sufficient or suitable far large bore arteries and multiple bypass and repeat procedures; Synthetic materials do not fare well for small-diameter vessel and are excessively thrombotic as vascular substitutes. In regard with these problems, there have been multiple attempts in creating tissue-engineered blood vessels composed of biological materials and autologous cells. Decellularized matrix is a properly biological material with appropriate characteristics including low immunogenicity, good biocompatibility and mechanical, pHysiological properties. Endothelial cell has the indispensable ability of secretion antithrombotic factor for maintaining vascular function. The research is trying to create the tissue-engineered grafts with tissue-engineering techniques, briefly culturing endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs) in vitro, seeding the cells into the decellularized matrix, following by implanting the construct into the same animal from which the initial cell was harvested.
