Jialing 20 is an artifical triploid mulberry variety that had been selected and cultured by breeding specialists in our university. It has been popularized in Sichuan Province and suburb of Chongqing metropolitan because of its high quality and yield leaves and its thick and long branches. The leaf and bark of mulberry are used to be good Chinese medicinal materials from ancient times. Forefathers found that they contain a lot of compounds with biological activity. But the utilization of leaves and branches of Jialing 20 were not very well, and most of them were discarded in every year. Jialing20 as a heterotriploid variety, the content and kinds of the secondary metabolic products have been changed correspondingly because a group of chromosomes was added and some chromosomes were recombined. The dissertation deals mainly with the chemical components and bioactivity investigations on Jialing20 in order to find new or high bioactivity compounds, which is hopeful for leading to a large cultivation and production of the mulberry species to create medical or chemical raw materials and to increase peasants' incomes, and to lay the foundation for further researching on mulberry.Many wild mulberry resources, distributing throughout the world, are growing in the adverse environment conditions which promote the mulberry to synthesize of many special chemicals to combat these adversity. It has been known now that many of these special materials can benefit human healthy. Therefore, it is valuable to screen the bioacitvity on wild mulberry resources for laiding the groundwork for searching more special compounds and their future usage.Therefore, we make full use of the advanced and favorable conditions afforded by State Key Laboratory of Phytochemistry and Plant Resources in West China Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to carry out studies on the chemical constituents and bioactivity of Jialing20, aiming to find new or high bioactivity compounds. |
