partâ… the measurement of the anatomic parameter of the proximal femur and the comparative study of the two methods of evaluating the femoral morphologyObjective To identify the relationship of the femoral morphology with the sex and age and analyze and compare the two methods of evaluating the femoral morphology, the anatomic parameters of the proximal femur were measured. Methods AP and lateral radiography of the hip joint was made in 45 patiens who accepted total hip arthroplasty. The anatomic parameters of the proximal femur were measured on those radiogphy. The femoral morphology was analyzed using Dorr's criteria and Noble's class respectively. Results The anatomic parameters of the proximal femur were not correlated with the age in male. The inner diameter of canal 10cm distal to the lesser trochanter, isthmus width and canal to calar isthmus rate were positively correlated with age in female. The medial cortical and lateral cortical thickness 10cm distal to the lesser trochanter, cortical index and canal-flare Index were negatively correlated with age in female. According to Dorr's criteria, 13 femora were classified as Type A , 20 as Type B, and 12 as Type C. According to Noble's criteria, 4 femora were classified as champagne flute , 34 as normal, and 7 as stove pipe. Conclusion The shape of femoral shape didn't change with aging in male. The width of femoral canal increased with aging in female. Type C of Dorr's criteria contained all of champagne flute and a portion of normal.partâ…¡the study of the Type C bone and the initial stability of the tapered femoral componentObjective To provide evidence for clinical practice of the tapered femoral component inserted without cement in patients with Type C bone, the condition of the initial stability of the taper stem in the Type C bone was studied. Methods Twelve femurs (Type C bone) were divided two groups according to canal flare index and were inserted the tapered broaches. After implanted, the femurs were shot the standard anteroposterior and lateral radiographs and imaged in a spiral computed tomography...
