Background:The meniscus of knee joint make up of fibrocartilage with local special nature companied by fetation and adaption to the specialty of the knee function. It possesses a lot of important functions, such as delivery of load, distribution of stress, absorption of shock during dynamic loading, lubrication of joint, stabilization of joint, nutrition of articular cartilage and transfer of noumenon receptors. Meniscus injury is a familiar cause of the turbulence in the knee joint. Up to date, literatures are more often related to meniscus injury with tear, a few researches are dealing with meniscus injury with sclerosis degeneration. We have reviewed a large number of data from the patients with the knee meniscus excision for recent 25 years. The fact shows that a lot of patients have to accept the meniscus excision because of meniscus with sclerosis nodules without tear. The characteristics of this meniscus disease show that the manifests are not quintessence besides knee pain, tenderness at joint line, integrity shape with dull or less lubricity and tiny grand on the super face of menisci under arthroscopy. Pathology shows formation of local sclerosis with the histological changes of fibro-hyperplasi, hyaline degeneration and mucous degeneration in the menisci. But the mechanism on the formation of sclerosis degeneration...
