Peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) is a ligand-activited transcription factor which belongs to nuclear receptor superfamily. It can convert the changes of homeostasis and pathological stimulus into infra-cellular signal which is binded to conserved DNA sequences and then regulate the expression of genes. Cellular culture tests revealed the activation of inflammatory cells (such as macrophages, monocytes, microglia ,and so on) could be inhibited after administration of PPARγ agonists. The expression of PPARγ was down-regulated in the kidney and cardiac musciles after ischemical reperfusion injury, meanwhile the empirical study of ischemical reperfusion animal model revealed ischemic injury could be decreased through the down regulation of inflammatory actions after giving PPARγ agonists. From above we conclude PPARγ may be related to inflammatory injury in the ischemic lesions. Prophasal experiments revealed, the expression of PPARy was down regulated in peripheral blood lymphocytes in the acute stage of cerebral infarction, at the same time, the level of IL-6 in the blood was elevated and infarction volume was enlarged in the patients who had low expressions of PPARγ, this associativity prompts the down regulation of PPARγ may weaken the control fuction of inflammatory actions, and then...
