Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant tumor of bone. It can occur in any age group, but more than 75% cases occured in adolescents aged 12~25. The long bones are most frequently involved and its metaphases are the usual sites of involvement, such as the distal femur, proximal tibia, and proximal humerus. It is difficult for clinical treatment and patients who underwent amputation alone often died of pulmonary metastasis within one year. With the developments of surgical and imaging technology, and the improvements of adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy, major advances have been achieved in the treatment of osteosarcoma. Much attention has been paid to the limb-salvage surgery because of its superior survival rates and bettter living quality. But there remain many problems to be solved. Metastasis and local recurrence, however, continue to be the major barrier.
