1. Ultrastructural comparison of SMA and its branches in guinea pig in various age groups. In the SMA of adult guinea pig, the vascular endotheliocyte is in good arrangement and the micro-process on the cavitary side of the endotheliocyte is abundant. There are comparatively much mitochondrion and vesicular substance of various quantities and sizes in cytoplasm. The basic membrane and muscular layer is thicker than those of juvenile guinea pig. A comparatively great number of myelinated merve fibers were found in the adventitia and muscular layer of the artery, where the myelin sheaths were in good arrangement, and there is no significant difference in submicrostructure of SMA in juvenile and adult guinea pig.In the SMA of elder guinea pig, the surface of the vascular endotheliocyte is unsmoofh and the thickness is uneven. The vascular endothelium folds, ertravates or projects and the vascular endotheliocyte proliferates and therefore projects towards the vascular cavity. ln the proliferation cells the amounts of chromatin in nucleus is abundant and the quantities of mitochodrion is large. The myelin sheath of myelinated nerve fibers were also found in the adventitia and muscalar layer of the artery.lt is suggested that the submicrostructural changes of SMA in elder guinea pig may inflict obvious effects on cochlea micro-circulation.2. The distribution of SP-NPY-IR positive fibers in vestebral-...
