The treatment of deep second degree burn wound and the prevention of scaring and cicatricial contracture after its healing is a long-standing difficult problem which has perplexed clinical workers of burn unit. Although a large number of experiments on this issue had been performed, up to now, no satisfactory advance, to effective control scaring while to accelerate wound healing of deep second degree burn, has been achieved. The findings of growth factors and their extensive biological effects and close relationship with wound healing brings new hope for further studying and solving above problem.To understand the relationship between endogenous EGF and wound healing of deep second degree scald on mice, collagen metabolism , healing rate, cytokinetic changes of main repair cells and histopathobiologic changes of wounds in group A (normal mice) and group B (Submaxillary glands of both sides were removed) during wound healing of deep second degree scald were comparatively observed. The results showed that collagen metabolism was mainly catabolism in the early stage, anabolism in the middle stage, and tended to balance of catabolism and anabolism in the later stage, while the number of fibroblast was increased in the early stage because of proliferation and decreased in the later stage because of apoptosis. Compared with group B, the proliferation of repair cells in group A was more active, the amount of collagen syntheses was higher and the wound healing time was 1-3 days earlier. These implied that endogenous EGF might play a role in accelerating wound healing of deep second degree scald in mice. In addition, the author found that there were not obvious hypertrophic cicatrization after wound healing of deep second degree scald, the local ouloid scleroma was caused by excessive proliferation of epidermis.To investigate the origin, the changes of content and effects of endogenous EGF during wound healing of deep second degree scald, immunohistochemisty, hybridization, image analysis and radioimmunoassy were employed to detect the expression of EGF, EGF...
