Background Insulin resistance is a smaller than expected biological response to a given dose of insulin, is associated with obesity, dyslipidemias, ovarian hyperandrogenism, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders.Tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF- α ) had been proved to be in relation to insulin resistance. Some other molecules such as α -2-glycoprotein, PC-1, Rad might serve as factors to form insulin resistance. Insulin/IGF-1 hybrid receptors (INS/IGF-1-HRs) had also been considered as a factor to promote insulin resistance since these hybrid receptors were found in skeletal muscle and placenta. But the mechanisms of insulin resistance were still unclear. In order to identify the main sites of insulin resistance, we investigated the expression of INS/IGF-1-HRs of myocardial, artery and adipose tissue in spontaneously hypertensive rats(SHR) with possible insulin resistance in the presence or absence of TNF- α or soluble TNF recep-...
