| Background and Research StrategyOrgan injury and multiple organ failure (MOF) are the inevitably event that patients who suffered server burns will encounter. Severe bum causes cardiac injury and dysfunction, because of acute ischemia, anoxyaemia, variety of cytokine releasing, shock and sepsis, which was named with post-bum cardiac shock. Many studies showed that a kind of polypeptide named as Heat Shock Protein (HSP) would present when encountering stress condition and played a protective role in mammalian cells. HSP is a kind of highly conserved polypeptide, which can protect organism against the injury induced by stress conditions. Hypoxia, ischemia and reperfusion can stimulate cells to upregulate the express of HSP family obviously. The protective roles of HSP60 and HSP70 in early myocardial damage after severe burn have been identified. The small heat shock protein (sHSP) is a subfamily comprised of more than ten kinds of HSP which molecular weight (MW) are 12- 43 KDa.H11 protein is a newly found sHSP in mammalian cells. It is also named HSP22 because its MW is 22KDa and it has other names such as HSPB8 and Hll kinase presented in some articles. Several studies showed that Hll protein was involved in cardiac cell hypertrophy and apoptosis, tumor cell apoptosis, cell growth and transforming and has a chaperone- like activity.Based on results of preview studies, we hypothesized that H11 protein play an important role in myocardial injury in acute post-burn rats, and act as an endogenous protective substance against the early injury induced by burn.
