Bronchial Artery Infusion Chemotherapy(BAI) differs from systemic chemotherapy in the way that drugs are administrated, which results in distinct pharmacokinetics. But study of pharmacokinetics of BAI is challenged with a problem--measurement of drug concentration in extracellular fluid of lung tissue. In this study, a new accurate sampling technique--microdialysis was introduced. First, CT-guided percutaneous puncturing and implanting of microdialysis probe was successfully tried, which is simple, accurate, and minimally invasive. Then controlled experiment revealed that, although BAI did not affect basic pharmacokinetics tendency of chemotherapy drugs compared with systemic chemotherapy, it did change some parameters. The influence of BAI towards carboplatin mainly lies in excreting phase, while for etoposide, the influence is in absorbing phase. These suggest that for clinical implementation of BAI, certain anticancer drugs suitable for trans-arteiral infusion should be chosen, instead of abiding protocols of systemic chemotherapy.
