In modern Chinese, there are several special words, such as “dao(到)”“zai(在)”“xiang(向)”“wang(往)”“zi(自)”“gei(给)” etc. They can be located after the verbs, showing a great difference in comparison with other prepositions. These words can be combined with the predicate of the front and the matching components of the back forming the structure of “V+P+XP”. In this paper, we will analyze and grasp this kind of structure as a whole comprehensively. The paper is divided into two parts besides the introduction and conclusion.Part Ⅰ includes four chapters. The topic is evolution of language, including syntactic positions and lexical change. The main contents are: Using the theory of grammaticalization, we will analyze and grasp the prepositions after the verb comprehensively in modern Chinese, searching for their evolution trend, sorting out their development and exploring the main reasons of the different evolution trend. We conducted a comprehensive investigation about the “V+P” linear sequence, finding that the number of “V+P” combination rising with the development of the time, but there are no many “V+P” words through the lexicalization. By investigating the format of “cong(从).....dao(到)” and “dao(到)X” adverbs, it will help us understand the importance of the syntactic positions in analyzing the word and producing a new word.Part Ⅱ includes four chapters. The topic is investigation and analysis of the case for the structure of “V+P+XP”. The main contents are: We do monographic study about “zi(自)”“xiang(向)”“wang(往)”“dao(到)” and “zai(在)”. Based on the full description of each structures, we made the new definition for the nature of the related words and located the expression of events for the related structure.
