Libraries’ most important contribution to human civilization is the long-term preservation of literature and manuscripts.Medieval Islamic library preserved classic documents of ancient Greek and Roman as well as Muslim innovative papers, it played an important role to the prosperity of Islamic culture, the European Renaissance and the whole civilized world.Based on the Islamic concept of knowledge, this article discusses the establishment of the Islamic libraries and their development, prosperity and weakness according to the defferent periods and regions, as well as giving some cases of a number of well-known libraries. This article discusses the types and management methods of Islamic library, analyzes the typical knowledge classification points, summed up the historical status and the role of Islamic library, at last discuss about the impact on China Islamic manuscripts.This dissertation consists of six parts, nine chapters:The first part is chapter one, introduction. Medieval Islamic libraries played an impotrtan role in the history of civilization, domestic scholars have not pay more attention to this topic with systematic and complete research.Useing the method of literature research and historical research,this article discusses the problems related to the medieval Islamic libraries.The second part is chapter two, the origin of the Islamic Library. This part introduces the origin of the Islamic books and the contents of the early books, analyzes the special concept of knowledge which is the resource base to promote the Muslims’ pursuit of knowledge.The third part is chapter three to six. Introduces the general situation of the libraries in the dynasty of the Umayyed, the Abbasid,the Fatimid and post- Umayyed, including various kinds of collection of books, book binding, copying and dissemination.Introduce the House of Wisdom, and other famous library, analyses the effect of translation movement.The Fourth part is chapter seven, the types and management of the Islamic library.Various types of Islamic libraries have different characteristics, especially the collection, funds and functions of the mosque library. The status and level of library management are examined from three aspects of the librarian, reader service, and funding source. Although there is no access to the information of the classification method of the medieval Islamic library, the paper analyze the classification thought of the Islamic literature at that time, introduces the first Arabic bibliography and the knowledge classification thought of some philosophers.The fifth part is chapter eight, the decline of the Islamic Library. Invasion, war, and religious strife, unsafe keeping, fire disaster and others made the medieval Islamic libraries decline. The flourished Baghdad libraries, Spain’s libraries were severely damaged or even completely destroyed. Today Islamic manuscripts disperse in the libraries all over the world, this situation reflects the fading of the medieval Islamic library. It also analyzes the internal reasons of difficulty reappearing the "golden age" of Islam.The sixth part is chapter nine, the historical status and influence of the medieval Islamic Library. For the Islamic world, medieval Islamic libraries in society, politics, education, etc. play an important role, and it also sowed the seeds of the Renaissance into Europe, and have direct influence to the Chinese Islamic manuscripts.The conclusion is the concept of knowledge affects the atmosphere of social learning, and the unique Islamic concept of knowledge is the motive force for the pursuit of truth and knowledge. Medieval Islamic countries made remarkable achievements in literature, art, science, technology, philosophy,library is the symbol of this "golden age" also reached an unprecedented prosperity, rich collection, a high level of management can not be matched by libraries in other civilizations at the same time.Medieval Islamic libraries play an important role in the development of the society,politics,education in the Arab world. It is just like a lamp, not only to illuminate themselves but also to the Europe, it prepared the arrival of the European Renaissance.
