Emerging industries have become the focus of economic development around theworld. It not only has a far-reaching significance for China to improve the ability ofindependent innovation and international competitiveness, but also to promote theoptimization of industrial structure. However, in the process of construction, due to theirrational industrial distribution, emerging industries also face severe challenges. The paper proposes the theory of spatial pattern innovation based on the nichetheory. The main contents of paper include niche measurement, evolutionarymechanism, quantitative study and niche optimization strategy. This paper discussesinfluencing factors from different perspective, analyses their inner mechanism, andaddresses following questions:(1) what are the content and elements of spatial patterninnovation? How to measure them?(2) What is the evolutionary mechanism ofemerging industries spatial pattern innovation?(3) What is the space hierarchy andinfluential factor of emerging industries? Does it has convergence?(4) How to improvethe ability of spatial pattern innovation?Main conclusions are as follows:(1) Put forward the concept of spatial pattern innovation of emerging industriesand build a theoretical framework system.Spatial pattern innovation of emerging industries refers to the morphologicalchanges of technology innovation, including the spatial distribution pattern, evolutionpattern and integration pattern. It has three characteristics: spatial, pattern and dynamics. The paper will construct the theoretical framework around the three characteristic.Chapter3studies space of emerging industries from the perspective of ecological nichemeasure. Chapter4analyzes pattern of emerging industries from the perspective ofecological niche evolution. Chapter5and6discuss dynamics of emerging industriesusing spatial econometric model. Chapter7summarizes the full text and puts forwardthe optimization strategy.(2) Calculate the niche width, niche overlap, and niche situation of spatial patterninnovation of emerging industries. This paper measures the niche width of spatial pattern innovation and divides itinto five categories, according to clustering results, which are key eco unit, pitch-pointeco unit, medium niche eco unit, narrow niche eco unit and micro niche eco unit. Wealso found that the distribution of innovation resource showed anchor form, andcalculated the overlap of innovation resource. Then it builds the measurement index ofemerging industries where "state" reflects the cumulative past state and "potential" reflects the ability of future growth. It also calculates the value of state andpotential, using the principle of niche. Our result shows that innovation resource isshifting from eastern provinces to central provinces.(3) Analyze the niche evolutionary path and build the model of evolutionary gametheory. We analyze the various possibilities of niche evolutionary through the introductionof Lotka-Vloterra model. Then, we derive the conditions for both A and B to take theniche expansion or niche maintaining, and analyze the process by introduction ofparameter of evolutionary game situation. Moreover, we propose solutions for Chinesephotovoltaic industry through Matlab simulation.(4)Establish a spatial econometric model to explore the main factors influencingspatial pattern innovation.Using geographic software Arcgis to draw map quantile, we describe spacestructure of emerging industry and calculate global spatial autocorrelation. Results ofmap quantile show that spatial dependence has gradually increased. Moran scatter plotalso presents that innovation of emerging industries appears a strong gathering trend.Temporal transition measurement method presents that most of provinces havemaintained the stability and continuity and innovation concentrate in a few provinces, such as Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. Moreover, we calculate the spatialdistribution of emerging industries through spatial Gini method, and find that thedifference is significant between the highest degree and the lowest degree of spatialagglomeration. It shows that R&D expenditure and R&D institutions have a positiveimpact for spatial Gini coefficient. Then, we establish spatial econometric model toanalyze spatial relevance and influence factors, which show that the result of spatialerror model and spatial lag model has improve than general panel model. Value ofexport delivery, R&D professionals, new product development, technological digestionand absorption expenditure has significantly increased.(5) Measure the evolution mechanism of spatial pattern innovation in YangtzeRiver DeltaEmerging industries in Yangtze River Delta shows a Z distribution patternthrough the descriptive statistical analysis of innovation output data, which is mainlydistributed in the southeast of Zhejiang province and middle south of Suzhou andelectronic information industry is the leading industry in the region. Furthermore, through cointegration test, it is found that4main variables have cointegrationrelationship, and there are some main factors influencing spatial pattern innovation inYangtze River Delta, which are foreign investment, import and export. Relations of25 cities are gradually strengthening through the global and local spatial autocorrelation.(6) Propose optimization strategy to implement spatial pattern innovationWe introduce niche separation strategy, expansion strategy, K-R strategy, alliancestrategy and their characteristics. Then, we calculate the spatial distribution index, which are concluded as follows: computer and office equipment manufacturing, electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry belongs to industriesof K strategy; pharmaceutical manufacturing belongs to industries of R strategy;aerospace industry and medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing rangesbetween K-R. Furthermore, it applies niche strategy into digital TV industry. The main innovation points of the study are:Firstly, we apply niche theory into the study of emerging industries and explore thechanging process of innovation from the perspective of niche measurement, nicheevolutionary, niche spatial structure, niche optimization, which enrichs the applicationof economic research.Secondly, the paper presents the spatial pattern innovation theory systematicallyand explores the content of spatial pattern innovation, using the theory of niche width, niche overlap, niche trend, which enriches the study of industrial innovation, especiallythe innovation theory.â‘ It applies the niche measurement method to the study ofindustrial innovation and proposes a new idea that the result of competition not onlydepend on the resource consumption, but also on the niche breadth of main competitorsand resources degree of differentiation, which also provides a new idea for resourceapplication in the Midwest region.â‘¡By introducing biological model to analyzeevolutionary path and constructing replication dynamic equation, it is concluded that theevolutionary stable strategy that emerging industries take niche expansion or maintainoriginal niche. It also proposes solutions for Chinese PV industry according to result ofevolutionary game theory.â‘¢We build spatial econometric model to study influencefactors of spatial pattern innovation, which includes description of emerging industriesniche spatial structure, calculation of global and local autocorrelation coefficient andR&D effect on industry agglomeration. We also analyze spatial pattern innovationevolution of emerging industries in Yangtze River Delta, and study the main influencingfactors through calculation of synergistic effect, spatial econometric and spatialconvergence. Then we put forward the niche optimization strategy of how to implementspatial pattern innovation and discuss its application in digital television industry.
