Logistics industry growth is the embodying of logistics industry changes in thelife cycle. It is the process of logistics industry form, functions, evolution. In theprocess, logistics key elements are interactive, constant evolution and development.As the key factor in the third industry, logistics industry growth directly influencesefficiency and function of logistics industry. Logistics industry growth has attractedmore and more attention. To understand logistics industry rules and mechanism,define logistics industry growth phase and objective are helpful to economydevelopment, industry structure optimization and coordination between logisticsindustry and environment. The final goal of logistics industry growth is symbiosisbetween own growth and environment development, namely ecologicalization oflogistics industry. Research on logistics industry growth based on ecological theory isthe needs of logistics industry healthy development and symbiosis between logisticsindustry and environment.Related research on logistics industry growth based on ecological theoryinvolved various scopes and aspects. Most studies paid attention to the stations oflogistics industry growth. But failed to point out the direction of logistics industrygrowth and go far enough in growth rules, the approach of ecologicalization were notpractical. Therefore, the paper utilized ecological theory to analyze logistics industrygrowth as follows:1.Combined with the development environment of logistics industry in Chinarecently, analyzed the importance and background for the subject selection. Based onrelated research of logistics industry growth and ecological theory with logisticsindustry growth, the paper combed limitation of related research, proposed thecombination of theory and practice of ecology and logistics being wide research fieldand direction for researchers, illustrated research contents, innovation, researchapproach and technical route.2.Based on industry growth theory, logistics related theory and ecological theoryrelated the paper, the paper proposed the concept of logistics industry growth andlogistics industry system, distinguished logistics industry growth and logisticsindustry development, defined logistics industry system. Logistics industry growth isthe reflection of changes state in life cycle and the process of formation, development,maturity, stability. It is also the process of evolution of logistics industry system. Logistics industry system is organic synthesis of integration of various logisticssub-industry elements in order to perform modern logistics industry rationalizationand meet customer demand. It is the organic integration of transportation,warehousing, packaging, distribution, loading and unloading, distribution processingand information. Sub-industry interacts and effects on each other, has their ownfunction and in accordance with the rules of system.3.Analogies between logistics industry system and ecological system, on thebasis of similarities of composition structure, information transfer and energy flow,the paper proved the scientificity and rationality of research on logistics industrygrowth based on ecological theory, illustrated ecological characteristics of logisticsindustry growth from ecological factors influencing logistics industry growth,ecological niche reflecting logistics industry growth status and industry cluster,proposed life cycle and ecological rules of logistics industry growth. Logisticsecological factors include environment ecological factor, market ecological factor andresource ecological factor. They are important factors influencing logistics industrygrowth. Logistics niche is the representation of logistics ecological unit characteristics.It reflects position and industry value of relationship with other industries. Logisticsindustry life cycle is the circle of formation period-competition period-innovationperiod-evolution period. Logistics industry has the characteristics of association,dynamics, added-value and adaptability. Logistics industry growth ecological rulesare the reflection of logistics industry characteristics, and representation in industrylife cycle.4.Based on ecological theory, the paper analyzed drive mechanism and models,competition and cooperation mechanism and models, stabilization mechanism andmodels, co-evolution mechanism and models of logistics industry growth, proposedthe ecologicalization needs and innovation as driving force. Drive mechanism oflogistics industry is the accumulation of exogenous power and endogenous power.The combination of exogenous power(ecologicalization needs as leading) andendogenous power(innovation as leading) has the polymerization. Competition andcooperation mechanism is the dynamic relationship of competition and cooperation,reflects correlation of different organizations and industries. The paper utilizedlogistic model and Lotka-Volterra model to analyze competition and cooperationmechanism and stability theory to analyze stabilization mechanisms. The stabilizationof logistics industry depends on stabilization of logistics industry system. Stabilization is the basis of logistics industry growth. Stabilization includescompetition and cooperation. It is dynamic and performs by various regulatorymechanisms. The paper also analyzed co-evolution mechanism among variouslogistics factors and between logistics and environment on the basis of concept oflogistics industry growth co-evolution. Co-evolution mechanism involves thecompetition and cooperation between inter-logistics company, logistics companiesand other companies, interactive development between logistics industry and otherindustries, correlation effect of logistics elements, coordination between logisticsindustry and environment. Relevance of logistics industry elements is strong, theco-evolution represents self evolution mechanism and correlated evolutionmechanism. Co-evolution of logistics industry and environment is the process ofadaption to logistics industry on environment and continuous improvement. Logisticsindustry should has the ability of continuous improvement of adaption, namely theability of continuous co-evolution with environment.5.China’s logistics industry goes through four stages, planning period, logisticsconcept introduction period, logistics industry initial formation stage and logisticsindustry later formation period. Logistics industry develops rapidly in recent years.Total social logistics and logistics industry added-value have a rising trend year byyear. But there are some problems such as high energy consumption, high total cost oflogistics and environmental pollution. On the basis of logistics industry growthprocess, current situation and characteristics of China, the paper utilized logisticregression model to measure China’s logistics industry growth stage andsub-industries(transportation, warehousing, trading, distribution processing and postalservice) growth stage. The results showed that China’s logistics industry in the periodof later formation. Transportation industry is in the period of later formation,warehousing industry and trade industry are in the period of rapid growth, distributionprocessing industry has gone through the most rapid growth period, the growth rate isin decline. The postal industry has just entered the period of rapid growth. The paperutilized niche ecostate-ecorole theory measure China’s logistics niche, The resultshowed that logistics industry absolute niche has increased year by year, reflectedChina’s logistics industry continuous growth and rapid development, the logisticsindustry effects on China’s economy development are more and more obvious. Thepaper analyzed ecological factors by principal component regression, the mostinfluential factors are the contribution rate of three industries to GDP (especially industry), infrastructure, logistics industry environment, informatization level,economy development and technology innovation, the minimum impact factor is thenumber of employees. At last, the paper measured coordination degree of logisticsindustry and environment, the result showed the interaction between logistics industryand environment is not obvious, the negative influence of logistics industry growth onenvironment should be considered.6.According to final goal of logistics industry, the paper proposed China’secologicalization objective of logistics industry growth. Logistics industryecologicalization plays important role in balanced development, logistics resourcesintegration and environmental friendly society construction. It pointed out ideabarriers, technical barriers and system barriers in ecologicalization. Based onecological system three-level evolution theory, the paper proposed theoreticalapproach of China’s logistics industry growth and practical approach from idea level,technical level and organizational level. One idea level, encourage theory research,strengthen propaganda and training, increase the awareness of environment protection.On technical level, it includes “hard” technology (energy saving, high efficiency andpollution reduction) and “soft” technology(service response improvement and costreduction). On organizational level, improve the system of logistics industryecologicalization, construct logistics industry ecological system, make reasonablestrategic planning, comprehensively promote the process of China’s logistics industryecologicalization.
