In order to meet the demand of the geographic information data today, the main content of this paper is the research on Construction of the Geographical Entities Database.In the first this article states the spatial cognition theory, and deduces that because of the development of computer software and hardware technology, the GIS data must be improved, and at the same time it points out that cognitive technique in information ages are different from analog age. The geographic entity model is adapted to geographic information sharing, and is also easy for public to catch on geographic cognitions, and then the paper states the concept of the geographical entity data model and logic model; the paper points out the different between geographic entity model and object-oriented model. In order to provide the geographic entity data, the construction method that change the traditional database into geographical entities database are studied; data on the geographical entity classification and coding methods and principles are also be set out. The paper sets forth the application model and method of the geographical entities, and gives some the applications examples based on geographical river entities.Now in our country the national foundation geographic information database and other geospatial data are describe as point, line or surface cell, and the format is not adapted to the need. Geographical entities data building is of the initial stage, the contents of this paper will help the geographical entity database building, providing a reference. Building geographical entities database will integrate and realize synchronization update of NFGIS multi-scale database. Geographical entities data will play an important in the location-based services for the government departments, enterprises and individuals.
