Technology And Rationalization

In this dissertation, an investigation on Habermas's idea of philosophy of technology is made by the clue of theory of rationalization.Habermas thinks the incessant expanding of science and technology results in far-reaching effect to human society, especially capitalism society, which includes two aspects: one, from philosophy, the reason of the Enlightenment in 18 century became eventually into the reason of tool, because of the control power of reason expressing the form of technology becoming stronger step by step, for which Habermas researches technology from the dimension of the philosophical discourse of modernity ,and he takes reason as dimension of the philosophical discourse of modernity, as a tool of control, technology displays the reason of tool in modernity; the other, from sociology, technology and its rule has already infiltrated all the domains of society, and the control power of tool results in an effect of homogeneity, therefore the whole society operates according to the rule of technology and rules also,for which Habermas researches from his theory of society------society as system andlife-world, one side, because of the appearance of crisis in the system of polity of advanced capitalism society, science and technology became the new form of validity replacing exchange of impartiality, the other side, because of the invasion of technology rule in system, the consequence is colonization of life-world.The development of science and technology results in the consequence because the advancement of science and technology is contacted with rationalization of society, which demonstrates the traditional theory of rationalization have big defect, therefore, Habermas investigated and criticized the traditional theory of rationalization, and thought it emphasizes unilaterally the rationalization of aim in essence, therefore, it have gone into unsettled dilemma of theory.The criticism of the traditional theory is order to the reconstruction of the new theory, which has a tortuous idea progress. At beginning, Habermas lay a foundation for the theory of rationalization by virtue of the distinguish between labor and interact. At this time, he yet bases himself upon the criticism theory, and emphasizes epistemology. He thinks that the distinguish between labor and interact imply the distinguish between rational action of aim and communicative action, the one between the subsystem of rational action of aim and the institutional frame of society.
