In recent years, bamboo has obtained a high concern as a sustainable material in furniture industry. On the other hand, from the perspective of culture sustainable development, china's furniture industry should develop a style of New-Sino-Style furniture which has the special features of Chinese traditional culture.In china, the industrial scale of recombinant bamboo is rapidly expanded. There is an urgent need to extend the application domain which is presently limited to the floor plate. This article firstly suggested a distinctive concept of the recombinant bamboo New-Sino-Style furniture, and carry on a comprehensive research on shape design and structure design of recombinant bamboo furniture.(1) Recombinant bamboo has a high materials utilization ratio, excellent physical strength, processing capability and environmental performance, can meet the requirements of furniture manufacturing, and has enormous advantages especially in the conventional shape and craft. But its texture and sense is inadequate compared with natural timber, and the price is higher than ordinary wood, so we should take some appropriate strategies in the design and producing.(2) The core of New-Sino-Style Furniture's characters is the expression of Chinese traditional culture. It subject broad and profound impacts in spirit, shape, and structure from Chinese traditional furniture. By analyzing the impacts of traditional culture and modern furniture system, this research summarized the spirit features and shape features of the New-Sino-Style Furniture.(3) Recombinant bamboo New-Sino-Style furniture is a perfect example of the combination of material and style. Material performance decided that recombinant bamboo furniture suit to compose light form by rounded and linear components, with simple shape and culture values. These design strategies are exactly consistent to New-Sino-Style Furniture's features.(4) Designing of recombinant bamboo furniture should shape and integrate the unit based on the material performance and processing technique, express the trait of bamboo felicitously, and decorate the products by various methods.(5) Exerting the high strength of material, recombinant bamboo furniture can use slighter accessories to meet the request of fastness, its best structural forms is a composite construction making up of plate and frame unit.
