Rapid economic development in recent years has damaged the environment and made the relationship between human and environment more strained. To restore the damaged ecosystem has become an important method to protect environment, and the assessment of restoration effect has become the focus of attention. New standard of assessment for ecological restoration effect has been established because of the development of ecosystem health concept. In this paper, the area of Changting ecological restoration is selected as the research object. The governance effect was evaluated based on biodiversity and community vigor. On biodiversity, the characteristics of herb species composition and distribution were mainly influenced by the environment, native species became the main component and cultivated species have disappeared mostly. Since the north area was close to the seed origin and meanwhile farmland and roads were favorable to seed spreading, the quantity of species and biodiversity index were larger in north than in south. The diversity of tree layer was affected more obviously by human activities than by environment, and more closely related to the control measures. During the period while the ecosystem has been restored, the quantity of tree layer or herb layer kept between 3 and 5 was the most favorable to the system. For vigor, the main influencing factor was the coverage of herb layer and tree layer, especially the coverage of community. In short, the analysis of biodiversity and plant community health was the basic way to build up a healthy ecosystem. Rebuilding existing ecosystem should adjust the structure of community at first and choose the native species, and the environmental impact should be paid more attention. At the same time, human control was the key method to rebuild ecosystem. In this paper, the method of community ordination and classification was applied to assess ecosystem health for the first time. The assessment on damaged ecosystem also made the study of ecosystem health more integrated. The reasonable number of species when ecosystem was reconstructed has been discussed in this paper.
