Dendrimer is a new type of functional macromolecule compound whose specialties are to design the molecular size, shape and functional group at the molecular level. As compared with the traditional "macromolecular, they all consist of the same structural units, but it shows to be very different in properties. Now researches into the properties of this kind of macromolecular hasn't been too deep going, but a breakthrough research progress has been made in some applying field, such as drug deliver, catalyst carrier, gene therapy, sensor etc. A great number of research thesises about this topic have been published on the abroad high level academic magazine annually. According to the specialties of dendrimer structure itself, it is a very promising research orientation to carry on the research into molecular structure and properties systematically and devoting ourselves to solving the practical problem in the traditional fields.In this paper, two types of polyamidoamine (PAMAM) have been synthesized by divergent with ethylenediamine and ammonia as core respectively. The molecular structures of the product have been characterized by means infrared spectrum(IR), nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and terminal group analysis. The result demonstrated that the structures of the synthesized dendrimers accord with theoretical structures. The research method of surfactant is adopted to study the physical quantities of the new type macromolecular aqueous solution, such as intrinsic viscosity, surface tension, surface adsorbance, critical micelle concentration(CMC), HLB value and molecular dimension. The fact indicated that the intrinsic viscosity is related to the molecular structure, the surface activity is related to the terminal group construction, the HLB value is related to the extent of generation. Moreover, the molecular size is proved to the grade of nanometer by the adsorption experiment of surfactant. The public reports about some surface property of polyamidoamine haven't been published at present.The properties of this kind of new type macromolecular surfactant as crude oil demulsifier have been investigated emphatically. At the same time we have investigated the basic properties of PAMAM. The demulsifying capability of PAMAM for the simulated O/W emulsion of different system was evaluated.The result shows that although it has little surface activity, the different cores and generation of PAMAM, whose terminal group is amidogen, behaves well demulsification. The demulsification of PAMAM for the O/W emulsion is closely connected with the molecular core, terminal group and generation, which provided the foundation to design the new-type demulsifier molecule. The mechanism of PAMAM as the O/W demulsifier for crude oil was studied by way of measuring the adsorption membrane intension and rupture rate of liquid membrane, which established a base of exploiting a series of demulsifier with new-style chemical structure.
