We take on a detailed numerical simulation and chemical background analysis of the synchronization of chaos and hyperchaos in the BZ-CSTR reaction system from three aspects. In addition, the primary experimental research by employing the self-adaptive parameter adjustment scheme is attacked. We not only analyze the synchronization behavior of the coupled systems from the time series visually, but also give further discussion on the condition of synchronization according to Lyapunov exponent criteria. Moreover, we analyze the role of various variables in the synchronization of chaos or hyperchaos from the chemical mechanism.1 Employing the PC variable-coupling scheme: While taking different variable as the driving variable, we investigate the synchronization between the corresponding variables in driving and response system. The results show that there are large differences as to their impact when different variable acts as the driving variable. Furthermore, in view of chemical mechanism, we discuss the chemical background of the effects of various driving variables, and find [Br-] is the unique practical coupling variable experimentally for the variable-coupling scheme.2 Employing the properly modified self-adaptive parameter adjustment scheme: By adjusting the system parameter– flow-rate, we obtain the chaos synchronization. In addition, we discuss the relationship between synchronization time and two adjustable constants in the parameter adjustment rule. Also, the relation between the conditional Lyapunov exponents in the response system and the synchronization time has been discussed. The results show that [Ce4+] is the unique practical variable experimentally for this scheme, which is rationalized from chemical mechanism.3 Studying the generation and synchronization of hyperchaos: From four different types of coupling, we find that hyperchaos can always be achieved suppose the coupling strength be weak enough. The synchronization of hyperchaos is studied by three methods: the bidirectional coupling of all variables, the coupling of two variables and the K-B single scalar coupling.4 Employing the self-adaptive parameter adjustment scheme into real BZ-CSTR system: We make the primary experimental investigation on chaos synchronization. Combined with the experimental phenomena, the effect of noise on synchronization is simulated numerically.
