The requirements of pavement are rising with the developing of domestic economy, the accelerated vehicle speed, the increasing traffic volumes, the vehicle loads and the rising ratio of overloaded vehicles. In order to improve the performance of asphalt pavement, prolong the service time and enhance the returns of investment, fibers-reinforced asphalt pavement which possesses many properties such as good technological performance, simple construction procedure and economically reasonable, has gained much attention and broad prospect.Certain kinds of fibers-reinforced asphalt mortar with different fibers—lignin fiber, Dolanit AS fiber and basalt mineral fiber—had been researched in this paper. Rheology was used in studying the high temperature property of asphalt mortar and the mechanism of fibers in fibers-reinforced asphalt mortar, we proposed the using principles of fibers based on the analysis of the influencing factors of the road performance,such as the filler species, fiber species, mixing amount of fibers and aging degree.Based on a great many indoor studies of asphalt mixtures mixing with diverse kinds of fibers and different mineral gradation types, we systematically analyzd the influence of fibers in the road performance (high temperature property, low temperature cracking resistance and water stability) of asphalt mixture, established the correlation between the rheological property of asphalt mortar and the road performance of asphalt mixture.Orthogonal test and correlation analysis were used in the testing and studying of the high temperature property, low temperature cracking resistance and water stability of asphalt mixture. We generally evaluated the influence of graduation types, mixing amount of fibers and fiber species in the road performance of fibers-reinforced asphalt mixture and provided the recommendation design of fibers-reinforced asphalt mixture.Accord to the correlation analysis of the rheological property of asphalt mortar and the road performance of asphalt mixture we could get that the rheological property of asphalt mortar has large influence in the high temperature properties and low temperature properties of asphalt mixture. So we could forecast the road performance of asphalt mixture according to the rheological properties of asphalt mortar.
