Sounding rocket is a kind of rocket for sounding and scientific experiments in Near-Earth Space. Using sounding rocket, we can detect the structure, ingredient, and parameter of every atmospheric layer in vertical direction. Then study many solar-terrestrial physical phenomena such as ionosphere, geomagnetic field, cosmic rays, solar ultraviolet and X-ray etc. The flight altitude of sounding rocket is between sounding balloon and low-orbiting artificial satellite. It is the only effective method for near space field detection within the range of 50-300 km.Sounding rocket has simple structure, short development cycle, launch flexibility, and lower cost compared with the satellite, but is generally uncontrolled rocket and can not be completely recovered and reused after launch. Building simulation and collaborative design system for sounding rocket and doing various aspects of simulations before the sounding rocket experiment has important practical significance. It can effectively aid the design of sounding rocket applications, improve the success rates of scientific experiments on sounding rocket, save manpower and resources, expands the multidisciplinary application fields of sounding rockets.In this article, sounding rocket simulation related technologies were introduced first, and then the key technologies to construct the visual simulation and co-design system for sounding rockets were analyzed and discussed.According to the aim of the system, needs analysis was conducted. Based on the needs analysis, scalable system architecture based on HLA was then designed. In this architecture, with support from the interoperability and reusability of HLA platform, synergy of simulation and design process can be achieved. It also supports simulation, design and proof for different sounding rocket application projects with different models and different variety of payloads.According to the circumstances of sounding rocket experiment, based on the classical heat transfer theory, variety of internal and external factors which influence the thermal environment of sounding rocket payloads cabin were analyzed. The theoretical models of the major factors were built. The heat balance equation at different stages in the sounding rocket experiment and the calculation method of payload cabin temperature were derived out.Taking the sounding rocket of"meridian project"as a prototype, using the finite element analysis software ANSYS, thermal analysis and simulation of the representative high-power payloads in sounding rocket payload cabin - onboard transmitter of launch vehicle were given. The heat situation and the impact to adjacent payload in different situations were given. From the simulation results we can see the heating influence of the transmitter to the adjacent payload is in the controllable range.According to the visual simulation requirements for the flight of sounding rocket, based on the Creator and Vega Prime, the basic sounding rocket flight visual simulation was achieved.
