The applying of simulation applications in military field and aerospace industry was increasing with the development of simulation technology. According to the technology background, we brought forward the project of the carrier rocket digital simulation system. In this system, flight simulation presented high-level research value due to the development of computer and internet technology.This paper focused on flight simulation of carrier rockets combined with distributed simulation technology based on High Level Architecture(HLA) in grid-based internet environment. According to the design of visual and mathematical simulation system, we studied the domestic CZ series of carrier rockets and accomplished accurate numerical model by three-dimensional simulation and mathematical value computation. This paper also described architectures, designs and implementations of carrier rockets flight simulation resulting from the core requirement of real-time data-driven approach, which satisfied the demand of data interactivity and real-time method in mathematical and visual simulation after developing Matlab-RTI middleware and OGRE_RTI adapter.Firstly, this paper reviewed the development history of distributed simulation technology, whose advantages and disadvantages were also summarized. HLA-based distributed simulation technology was chosen as primary technology in flight simulation and the application and superiority of HLA in visual and mathematical simulation were discussed. In addition, grid-based concept was presented for architecture design of flight simulation in order to meet the demand of rocket flight simulation.Secondly, this paper designed the function of each module based on the key function of real-time data-driven approach. Logic structure and design thought were determined. The approach of developing Matlab-RTI middleware and OGRE_RTI adapter was proposed to achieve the real-time and data interactivity.At last, the operational procedures of visual simulation, mathematical simulation system and HLA emulating bus were elaborated. Integration of two systems and real-time data-driven procedure were accomplished. The system was tested based on the requirement.The distributed flight simulation system of carrier rocket contributed to the military training and flight program design and was valuable for practical use.
