Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) must be evaporated for transportation in pipes before it is used. During the evaporation process, a lot of high quality cold energy will be released. If the cold energy can be effectively utilized, they will bring great economic and social benefits. How to effectively improve the efficiency of LNG cold energy utilization is a focus at all times. A new method, which can utilize LNG cold energy by semiconductor thermoelectric (TE) associating with water-electrolytic hydrogen making, is introduced in this thesis. Theoretical and experimental researches are deeply preceded. Besides, some new methods for LNG cold energy utilization are also researched in this thesis, including modified combined-electricity-generation, LNG cold energy recovery by thermoelectric associating with power cycle, air liquation by LNG and solar electrical energy generation combining with LNG, etc.Electric power generation is a main method of LNG cold energy utilization. In former methods, LNG cold energy was used to liquefy low-boiling refrigerant. Liquid refrigerant was compressed by pump and evaporated by seawater or air. Gassy refrigerant expanded in turbine and output power for electricity generation. Turbine and evaporator are necessary in those methods, which cause complex structure and inconvenient maintenance. Based on TE properties of semiconductor materials, a new LNG cold energy utilization method and equipment are established in this thesis. In this power generation equipment, some semiconductor TE components are assembled, and some attached facilities are included also. Its structure is simple, and operation is stable. At the same time, it is very convenient for expansion. Based on this equipment, TE and water-electrolytic experiments are researched, and a new LNG cold energy utilization approach is developed.Semiconductor TE device is an important component in this method.
