In recent years, with the rapid development of ecosystem health research, forest ecosystem health has become the focus, but most of researches and evaluations of forest ecosystem health were restricted in the organization, vitality and resistence at present. The operability in practical applications is relatively poor. In this study, the data of a fixed sample data, a temporary sample survey data and remote sensing image data were used to forest health assessment in study area, form different temporal and spatial level and different functions. The theories and techniques of spruce-fir forest health were carried out though forest health assessment of different levels, different stages and different objective, and the spruce-fir forest health management modes were proposed. These results have important significance in relation to accelerate the restoration of spruce-fir forest structure, function, sustainable use of forest resources. The modes provide a theoretical basis for the spruce-fir forest management. The main research results obtained in this study are as follows:(1)The definitions of forest health and forest health management were proposed based on forest management. Forest health management system and framework were established.(2)Based on the theory of system coupling, the concept of forest ecosystem coupling was put forward; the machnism of forest ecosystem coupling and the relationship between forest ecosystem coupling and forest health were analyzed. Forest ecosystem health is the inevitable result of the forest structure and function coordinational coupling.(3)The relationship between forest structure factors and forest health were studied through factor analysis, the result shows that nine factors significantly impacted the health of forest, including phytocenosium structure, disturbance level, natural closeness, age structure, canopy density, volume per area, number of regeneration, degree of diseases and insect pests and biodiversity. Based on this analysis, the model of coupling relationship between structure and function was built.(4)According to the result of factor analysis, forest health assessment index system was proposed with structure and function index method. Weights of each index system were calculated by analytical hierarchy process.(5)The forest stands in different stage and in dfferent manegemet objective were evaluated in study area. The results showed that:the health state of near-mature forest better than middle-age forest and mature forest, conversation forest health state better than timber forest. About 50% forest in sub-health and un-health state.(6)A forest landscape health assessment index system was established form forest landscape elements, spatial pattern and spatial configuration. The overall forest health state was evualuated in study area, the results showed that:most of the forest landscape patch types in the sub-health and un-health state.(7)The objectives, principles, and adjustment technologies of the spruce-fir forest health management were studied in this research. According to different growth stages, different objectives of spruce-fir forest, the target structure system were proposed. A spruce-fir forest health management mode was proposed.(8)The objectives and adjustment technologies of the spruce-fir forest landscape health management were studied in this research. A spruce-fir forest landscape health management model was proposed.
