Ye Tianshi was an expert in treating epidemic febrile diseases, whose masterpiece was "Guide to Clinical Medical Records"(《临证指南医案》) in Qing Dynasty. The book use a large number of classical prescription with Guizhi of Treatise on Febrile Diseases(《伤寒论》).There is extensive use of Guizhi in medical record and a lot of knowledge and experience about application of Guizhi. This valuable heritage should be attached importance to and In-depth study.This thesis concentrates in the usage of Guizhi as included in the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", altogether with searching and recording all the related descriptions about the Guizhi through computer, analyzing the thinking method of the author of the book-Mr. Ye Tianshi, in order that to set up the possible theatrical base for the modern clinical treatment as well as to have better curative effect for patients.The paper divided into three parts:(一)Study on Guizhi literature:The part mainly summary and analysis literature of Guizhi from herb of Guizhi medicine history, botanical survey of Guizhi, modern pharmacological research of Guizhi and the effect of Guizhi.(二)Study on application of Guizhi in "Guide to Clinical Medical Records":To search all the medical case related to Guizhi which was included in the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", collecting and inputting the necessary data including diseases, syndromes, performances, pulses and the formulation of different Chinese Medicines into the Excel, operating the professional statistical software-SPSS to analyze all the input data and obtain the result.(三)Clinical application of Guizhi practice by Learn "Guide to Clinical Medical Records":The paper enumerates12complete clinic cases, including dysmenorrheal, pregnancy dyspnea, fetal leakage, lumbago, dizziness, menstrual disorder and common cold were treated by Guizhi recipe,which have obtained some satisfactory therapeutic results.The results are as follows:1. The characteristics of using different types of Guizhi as recorded in the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records".In the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", there is eleventh (11) types of Guizhi were appeared in the concerned medical cases. There are cinnamomum wilsonii, ramulus cinnamomi stem, cinnamon, cinnamon pith, raw cassia twig, cassia twig tip, cinnamomum cassiawas, raw ramulus cinnamomi stem, Guangxi ramulus cinnamomi, sweet ramulus cinnamomi, thin-layer ramulus cinnamomi. The cassia twig and ramulus cinnamomi stem are the most popular used in the medical cases, both share is80%, but cinnamon used occupy only about20%。2. Fifty-six of major diseases were treated using Guizhi in the "Guide to Clinics Medical Records". In the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", according to the number of appearance of Guizhi in the diseases, There are respectively phlegm and fluid (10.19%), malaria (9.22%), arthralgia (7.03%), cough (6.31%) and postpartum problems (6.06%) etc.3.The deficiency of the middle energizer and Yang deficiency in the pathogenesis involved in applying Guizhi accounting for20.51%. The nutritive Qi and defensive Qi disharmony syndrome and turbid phlegm is17.44%and10.33%respectively. These three diseases accounted for a total of about50%.4.In the major syndromes as related to Guizhi in the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", the highest frequency of symptoms pain occurs, acconting for17.56%, followed by cough (7.64%), aversion to cold of four limbs(7.64%), wind chill or heat(7.36%), poor appetite(7.17%), reverse Qi or symptoms are distention(6.98%), form and spirit decay(6.61%), and Nausea and vomiting(6.32%).In the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", according to the Chinese Medical Theory of Yi-Yang-Qi-Blood, those Syndromes like Qi deficiency, reverse Qi and Yang deficiency, involving both lung and spleen are found more frequent used with the Guizhi.5.Major pulse as related to Guizhi in the "Guide to clinical Medical Records" are wiry pulse, thready pulse, deep pulse, rapid pulse, thin pulse, unsmooth pulse and feeble pulse. The more frequent appeared pulses are wiry pulse, thready pulse, deep pulse, appears most times,18,12,11, respectively.6.In the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records", the Guizhi are found very often to formulate with some other Chinese Medicines which are poria cocos, glycyrrhiza, angelica sinensis, ginger, white peony root, jujube, panax ginseng, atract ylodes, Pinellia ternate, dried ginger etc.7.Major tongue picture as related to Guizhi in the "Guide to clinical Medical Records" is tongue coating or white tongue.8.Major use dose of Guizhi in the "Guide to Clinical Medical Records" are five "fen"(分) to one "qian"(钱). Three "fen"(分) is the lowest dose of Guizhi.but higher is seven "qian"(钱).9. The characteristics of Guizhi utilization:(1)dispelling pathogenic factors from muscles and regulation of ying and wei;(2) promoting menstruation and relieve pain using wilson cinnamon;(3)soothing liver using cinnamomi stem;(4)Guizhi wine mixing white peony root to remove nature and flavor of medicines and reserve the function;(5)to bring adverse Qi downward using raw cassia twig;(6)to use Guizhi flexibly and differentiation.The article is first to systematically discuss diagnosis and treatment of drug laws of Guizhi in"Guide to Clinical Medical Records", summarize and analyze application of Guizhi's experience of Ye Tianshi. The research has a positive significance in guiding clinical application of Guizhi.
