This research is "Studies on antirheumatic new drug extracted from the active part of Angelica pubescens Maxim. f. biserrata Shan et Yuan" financially supported by the National Science Council. We studied the new drug"s technology of preparation, quality standard and phanuacodynamics. We also isolated and identified five compounds from the active part. In the course of technology study, for the first time, supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) was applied to the extraction of active part-coumarins in AngeLica pubescens f. biserrata. The best extraction technology was decided by orthogonal test. The extracts were prepared into soft gelatin capsule. Establishing the quality standard of preparation, including property.. identification and content determination. The accuracy.. repeatability.. stability and recovery of determining method all accord with the relevant regulations. By means of pharmacodynamic research, we studied the soft gelatin capsule"s functions, such as expelling wind-dampness (inhibitory effect on inflaztuuation induced by Freund"s complete adjuvant, carrageenin and fresh albumen), i.munoregulating function (effects on delayed hypersensitivity and Type 1111 hypersensitivity), warming the channel and alleviating pain (effects on pains induced by hot plate and acetic acid), promoting the blood and dredging the channel (effects on the formation of granulo.a induced by cotton ball in mice and effects on the caliber, the velocity and volume of blood flow of mesenteric capillary in rabbits). Five compounds were isolated from the active part of Angelica pubescens f. biserrata by chrouiatographic methods and identified by spectra analysis (UV.IR. MS.NMR). They are coluuibianedin, osthol, columbianetin acetate, xanthotoxin and columbianetin.
