Review: This thesis has reviewed the etiology, pathogenesis and treatment principles and methods of Ulcerative Colitis (UC) in Traditional Chinese Medicine., Both ancient and modern contents of this disease were reviewed. The modern .research results of the etiology and pathogenesis of UC were discussed at the same time. These constituted the basis of our clinical and animal experiment research.Clinical research: The clinical research showed that Huangqi Xiang Shen granules coud make the clinical symptoms of UC patients improved and accelerate ulcer healed over. Among the 33 cases treated with Huangqi Xiang Shen granules for 2 months , the clinical symptoms and the colon as viewed through the colonofiberscope had both improved obviously. The effective ratios were 93.90%Moreover, the primary reseach concerned the therapeutic mechanism of Huangqi Xiang Shen granules as the basis from which the prescription was formed.
