Acupuncture Treatment Of Simple Obesity Clinical Research

Research ObjectivesTo investigate the therapeutic effects of treating simp] obesity by acupuncture and massage.Research MethodThis study uses acupuncture and massage to treat two groups of 30 simple obesity cases, diagnosed as heatiness in the stomach, with weak spleen cum water stagnation syndrome. Each group was given 3 courses of 10 treatments each. Obesity indicators measured were body weight, body mass index (BMI), and body fat percentage.ResultsTotal effective rate for acupuncture and massage is 90% and 66% respectively. The reductions in body weight, BMI and body fat percentage for each group are significant. Relative to the massage group, the therapeutic effect of acupuncture is significantly better. Besides treatment methods, results also showed that therapeutic , effect is significantly affected by the marital status of subjects.
