| Diabetes mellitus(DM), with high incidence and many complications, is increasingly affecting people' s health and has become a popular medical issue. In diabetic patients type 2 DM is the majority and epidemiological researches have displayed that the obese patients are much more than the non-obese patients in type 2 DM in our country. The received mechanism of type 2 DM is insulin resistance(IR) and dysfunction of pancreas β cell with IR as its important feature. Through summarizing the recent developments of IR in type 2 DM, we realize that the metabolic disorder of lipid caused by obesity and the inflammatory factors secreted by adipose cells are the main origins of obesity-related IR. Obesity and the accompanied disorder of lipid can not only develop the IR but also damage pancreas β cell to result in type 2 DM. Among the cytokines, the discovery of resistin, a new hormone secreted by adipose cells may play an important role between obesity and type 2 DM.Through the TCM researches about obese type 2 DM, we presume that the pathogenesis of IR in type 2 DM is Qi deficiency of spleen and kidney, blockage of phlegm and blood stasis. According to this theory, we put forward the method of warming yang to treat IR. In this experiment, we established the rat models of type 2 DM with IR by received method and the compound Chinese medicine with the function of warming yang and resolving stasis was applied. The index related with IR and obesity, such as FFA, blood lipid, hemorheology and adipose resistin mRNA, were chosen. Observe the compound medicine' s influences on the metabolic disorder of lipid, expression of mRNA of adipose resistin and insulin sensitivity index(ISI) to discuss its functioning mechanism. It showed that the compound Chinese medicine with the function of warming yang could ameliorate lipid metabolism, especially FFA and TC. We also found that the mRNA expression of resistin in the visceral fatty tissue was 3.5 times of that in the muscle in model rats, which confirmed that visceral obesity is quite important in the onset of type 2 DM. And the compound Chinese medicine could down-regulate the expression of resistin in adipose tissue. In this experiment we could reach the conclusion that the compound Chinese medicine with the function of warming yang and resolving stasis can ameliorate IR of type 2 DM rats by decreasing the body weight, regulating the lipid metabolism, lowering FFA, inhibiting the mRNA expression of resistin in adiposetissue(especially in the visceral adipose tissue).This experiment broke through the traditional concept about the pathogenic feature of Xiaoke and the notion that the method of warming yang can only be applied in the treatment of Xiaoke of deficiency of both yin and yang type or in the stage with complications. It also annotated the doctrine of "Deficiency of yang resulting in Xiaoke" . For the first time in our country, this experiment launched the research of compound Chinese medicine' s influences on IR, which provided the new train of thought for the researches of TCM in preventing and treating type 2 DM.
