Chinese Medicine Cloves Role In Weight Loss And Mechanistic Studies

Aim and Method: Dingxiang(DX) is the common used traditional Chinese medicine,We investigate its effects and mechanisms of action on obesity by meams of contemporary pharmacology, enzymology and molecular biology. Results: â‘ DX can inhibit weight increase and decrease the level of low density lipoprotein of rats fed with high-fat diet; (2)DX can make less heavy of obese rats induced by high-fat diet and decrease the ratio of body fat /mass; (3)DX can also inhibit weight increase of mice fed with high-fat diet; â‘£Initial clinical trials shows that DX can reduce weight and body mass index(BMI) of obese women; (5)DX can inhibit Pancreatic lipase and a-Glucosidase significantly; (6)DX increased the expression level of LDLR mRNA of HepG2 cells and enhanced also the luciferase activity regulated by LDLR promoter.Conclusion: DX can prevent and treat obesity of animals in experiment by inhibiting weight increasing and reducing body mass, the mechanisms of action on obesity of DX relate to its inhibition Pancreatic lipase and a-Glucosidase, increasing the expression level of LDLR mRNA of HepG2 cells and enhancing also the luciferase activity of LDLR/Luc.The study illustrates the effects and mechanisms of action of Dingxiang on obesity deeply and demonstrates its values of application in clinical for prevention and treatment of obesity at a more advanced point.
