1. ObjectsUlcerative colitis(UC)) is an unknown inflammatory bowel disease which have the characteristics of longer courses and repeated attack, and has a certain relationship with colon cancer' attack. Therefore UC were treat as one of the difficult disease by World Health Organization. Western medicine' treatment of the disease have some shortcomings such as recuring after a stop, long-term drug - taking vice response, undesirable effects of some persistence cases. Thus the search for effective, less side effects of the treatment becomes the focus of the study. Chinese medicine has a significant advantage on ulcerative colitis, and has showed a outstanding value of development and broad prospects.The knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and the research progress of modern medical on UC has been summarized in this paper. It also assess the clinical efficacy of Huangqin Tang on UC, discuss the possible mechanisms through clinical research,which going to to provide new effective drugs.2. MethodsHuangqin Tang was use as the treatment to UC patients. And the evaluation are clinical symptoms, functional indicators, colonic mucosal through colon mirror, blood routine examination, feces routine examination, IL-1 beta, IL-6, TNF- alpha. 60 cases were selected to attend the research with standards diagnosis. The research is a multicenter, randomized, parallel and controlled study. Patients were randomly divided into Huangqin Tang Group (treatment group) and sulfasalazine (SASP) group (control group). Each group has 30 cases and every hospitals has 10 cases. Huangqin Tang group were given Huangqin Tang 20ml thrice a day for 60 days, sulfasalazine group were given 20ml thrice a day for 60 days too.3. ResultsIn trial group including 30 cases, among them clinic recovery 15 cases, great improvement 8 cases, improvement 3 cases.no change 4cases. The clinic recovery rate is 50 per cent and the total effective rate is 86.67 per cent. In control group there were30 cases, among them 10 cases, 9 cases, 4 cases, 7case respectively. The clinic recovery rate is 33. 33 per cent and the total effective rate is 76. 67 percent. Effective power of the therapeutic group is higher than the controlling group (P<0.05). Histopathological results shows that Huangqin Tang have the anti-inflammatory efficacy and can repair and protect the intestinal mucosa. UC...
