Nephrotic syndrome is a constellation of signs and symptoms including proteins in the urine, low blood protein levels, and swelling. Steroid resistance is challenging for us in the treatment of nephrotic syndrome. The mechanism of steroid resistance remains unclear. Steroid resistance involves multiple steps, and requires the accumulation of the altered expression of many different proteins. Independent analysis of any single protein would be insufficient to understand all of the aspects of steroid-resistance. Proteomics has the ability to measure the whole protein profiles of steroid resistance simultaneously. As the most easily accessible body fluid, urine has been extensively studied using a variety of analytical methods. Urine collection is non-invasive procedure, meaning subjects are more open to its collection compared to blood or solid tissue. As a specific filtrate of blood, the protein components of urine are qualitatively similar to these of blood. Therefore, as a substitution for seeking biomarkers from blood proteins, identification of urinary proteins may lead to the discovery of novel biomarkers for diseases. Urinary proteomics has been extensively applied to various fields of medicine including nephrology. Thus, we used urinary proteomics method in the present study to reveal the...
