| Objectives Epidermodysplasia verruciformis(EV) is an autosomal recessive hereditary skin disorder, in which there is widespread infection with specific types of human papillomavirus(HPV).More than 30 HPV types, including 3, 5, 8-10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 19-21, 23-26, 37, 38 and 47 have been identified in EV and EV tumors. The aim of this study was to detect the HPVs DNA in EV and EV tumors sampling in our department during the recent 10 years, and then identify the HPV types.Materials and methods 13 samples from 10 patients of EV or EV tumor were examined for the presence of HPVs DNA using a pair of degenerate primers FAP59/FAP64 designed from two relatively conserved regions of the L1 open reading frame of most HPVs. Then the amplified DNA were sequenced. The obtained DNA sequences were then submitted to GenBank and comparison with the HPVs DNA sequences in the EMBL Databank to identify the HPV types. Results 13 samples from 10 patients of EV or EV tumor were positive using primer FAP59/FAP64 to amplify. The obtained DNA sequences were comparison with the HPVs DNA sequences in the GenBank to identify the HPV types.Of the 8 EV samples,3(37.5%)were HPV 5,1 (12.5%)was HPV3,1 (12.5%) was HPV38, 1 (12.5%) was HPV22,1 (12.5%) was HPV47 and in 1 samples (12.5%)2 different HPV types (HPV5 and HPV14) could be detected. Of the 5 EV tumors,4 (80%) were HPV 5 and in 1 sample(20%)HPV5 and HPV14 could be detected.Of the 13 samples, 7(53.8%)were HPV5, 1 (7.7%) was HPV3,1 (7.7%) was HPV22,1 (7.7%) was HPV47,1 (7.7%) was HPV38 and 2 different HPV types (HPV5+14) could be detected in 2 samples (15.4%) .Conclusion Our results indicated that HPV5 is the most prevalent HPV types of EV and EV tumor in our department.Other HPV types including 3, 14, 22, 38, 47 may be detected occasionally. HPV5 and HPV14 could be detected in the same patients. |
