Head Polygonum Identification And Quality Evaluation

Polygonum capitatum Buch, a perennial herb, has the effect of clearing caloric and eliminating damp, attenuating and alleviating pain, promoting blood flow and eliminating stasis to activate blood circulation, inducing diuresis for treating strangurtia. It was first recorded in Traditional Chinese Materia Medica of Guangxi and then was recorded in The Quality Criteria of Chinese Madicinal Materials and Nation Med Mat of Guizhou. There were some reports about variety certification, chemical constitutents and pharmacology of Polygonum capitatum Buch. —Han. ex D. Don in recently years. However, there were a few reports about systematic identification, active chemical compounds and quality evaluation. For further utilizing and development of Polygonum capitatum Buch. —Han. ex D. Don, we have done some researching as follows:Its difference was clarified by comparing morohology, material character and histology , UV , IR , TLC, HPLC and HPLC fingerprint were adopted to identify Polygonum capitatum and Polygonum nepalense. Results indicated that the methods above were suitable for identifying Polygonum capitatum and Polygonum nepalense.According to its function,indication and clinical application pharmacology experiments were studied with easing pain and anti-inflammation. Results indicated that herb touhualiao has activity of analgesic and anti-inflammation from the equeous extracts . Its effective extraction parts were flavone and plenty of tannins also has a certain extent effects.Three compounds from the flavone constitutes with analgesic and anti-inflammation activity of Polygonum capitatum were isolated and indentified. They are quercetin, kaempferol and quercitrin. kaempferol was isolated from the plant for the first time.Volatile oils from the wild and cultivated touhualiao in Sichuan province were studied by GC-MS technique.
