Objective: To study the effects of Lithium chloride on apoptosis and related proteinsof myocardial cells in the rats underwent myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury. Methods: Myocardial ischemia reperfusion model was made by Ligating left anteriordescending coronary artery in Sprage-Dawley rats. The rats were divided randomly into 4groups: Normal control group(A group, n=15), myocardial ischemia reperfusion (MIR)group(B group, n=15), MIR+Saline group(C group, n=15), MIR+Lithium chloride group(Dgroup, n=15), each group was divided into 1h, 3h and 6h subgroups, each subgroupincluded 5 ones. ST segment changes in leadⅡwere recorded. Apoptosis of myocardialcells in the rats was inspected by electron microscope and TUNEL stain. Apoptosis-relatedproteins Bcl-2,Caspase-3 were investigated by the method of RT-PCR and Western-blot.Results: The myocardial cell apoptosis increased(P<0.05), apoptosis-related geneprotein Bcl-2 decreased(P<0.001) and caspase-3 increased significantly(P<0.001) in the 3hsubgroup of group B compared with that in group A,but had no significant differencebetween group C and group B (P>0.05); Compared with group B, the apoptosis indeximproved (P<0.05), apoptosis-related gene protein Bcl-2 increased(P<0.01) and Caspase-3reduced (P<0.01) in group D.Conclusion: myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury may induce increase ofmyocardial cell apoptosis, decrease of Bcl-2 and increase of Caspase-3, Lithium chloride can relief above changes, suggesting that lithium chloride has protective effects againstmyocardial ischemia reperfusion injury.
