Cerebral palsy means nonprogressive brain injuries caused by diverse reasons from prenatal to postnatal after one month, and its major manifestation central dyskinesia and posture abnormities, accompanying with complicating disturbance such as mental retardation, language barrier, epilepsy, etc. Thought no record on disease name of cerebral palsy in Traditional Chinese Medicine, yet there exists a great quantity of description about disease syndrome, cause of disease, the pathogenesis, which could provides modern therapy with reference of much thinking and experiences.Acupuncture has been one of the major therapies for child cerebral palsy. Guided be the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and based on zang-fu viscera theory and channel theory, and with Western Medicine's cranium anatomy and neurology, "Zhu Shi's Scalp Acupuncture method" might prevent and cure this disease by using the specific points on the head and appropriate stimulation to stir up the function of meridian, which could dredge meridian and regulate blood and qi. The method has clinical advantage such as convenient needling condition standard of treatment, slight pain feeling, safety and effect, duration of effectiveness and available repeat of clinical result, etc.ObjectiveIn this study, we tried to observe the recent effect of "Zhu Shi's Scalp Acupuncture method" for child cerebral palsy, hoped to standardize clinical effectiveness and gain pretty good social effects.MethodsTotally sixty children diagnosed as cerebral palsy was recruited into the trial. There were thirty cases in the treatment group and 30 cases in the control group. All cases came from the outpatient department. The diagnosis criteria,Inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria for the qualified object; group setting of research object; treatment proposal for two groups; observation items and methods; judgment standard of effectiveness and adverse reaction, all followed the schedule of our clinical trial by our research team, which had been passed through opening questions report (referenced the second chap of normal text in detail). Based on the simple randomized principal, all qualified objects were distributed by the randomized distribution card into trial group or control group. The cards were made by researchers in advance, which included group name and advice for patient. Single-blind randomization method was used in the trial. Objects were divided 1:1 into the trial group and control group. Patients in the trial group were treated with conventional therapy of Western Medicine rehabilitation (Vojta therapy) plus scalp acupuncture method; while patients in the control group were treated with conventional therapy of Western Medicine rehabilitation (Vojta therapy) After one course, effectiveness was observed. Pre-treatment and post-treatment, to evaluate the condition of objects, we used combination function evaluation table for children with cerebral palsy, worked out by Hu Yingyuan from rehabilitation center in China, and Ashworth scale as well. We used EPIDATA3.1 soft ware to establish database and SPSS15.0 software to make statistics analysis. Measurement data was expressed by mean±standard deviation (x±S), and count data was showed by constituent. Measurement data was analyzed by t test (if variance arrhythmias existed, data would be analyzed by t' test or Rank sum test); before and after self-cooperation was handled by t test or Wilcoxon Paired Rank Sum Test. Categorical data using Chi-Square test, ranked data using two-samples compared Wilcoxon rank sum test (adjusted). Statistical graphic manufacture was finished by Graph Pad Prism 4.03 software.ResultsSixty cases, including thirty-two men and twenty-eight women, whose age ranging from four months to three years, were recruited in this trial. After one course of treatment, score of combination function, score of spasm severity and clinical effectiveness improved well in both groups. Compared with pre-treatment and post-treatment, there was significant difference in both groups. Comparison between two groups after treatment, there had significance of difference. Results indicated Zhu Shi's Scalp Acupuncture method had advantage in improving patients'combination function, spasm severity and clinical effectiveness.ConclusionThe results of clinical comparative study indicated Zhu Shi's Scalp Acupuncture method could improve the effective rate and effectively release spasticity. The study initially proved adapting Zhu Shi's Scalp Acupuncture method for child cerebral palsy could improve the clinical efficacy and the method deserved generalization.Cooperation of acupuncture with music therapy is better in effect on treatment of cerebral palsy than acupuncture only, providing a new way of thinking for the comprehensive treatment for it...
