An Investigation Of Sound Pattern About Linxia Hui-accent In Gansu Province

Language is a product of human society. It developed along with the development of society. Dialect is a variant of the language, an objective phenomenon of social and a product of the development of history. Chinese has been developed for thousands of years; the voice have made a huge change. With the development of modern technology, to conduct experimental analysis with scientific instruments has come into being.With the help of experimental equipment and voice analysis software, experimental phonetics reveals many of the phenomena that can not be observed in the past. Using experimental technology in the study of Mandarin speech, minority languages, dialects, language acquisition, etc. have made great achievement.Linxia autonomous region is a minority areas, and the voice has been influenced each other. The studies of Linxia dialect, including voice, grammar, language contact, etc., are based on the traditional phonetic approach. Based on the method of experimental phonetics, we try to make some research, use sound pattern theory to reveal the Linxia_hui accent speech features. The study is divided into the following sections:1. We collected much of material about Linxia dialects, and carried out field survey of phonetics from July to August in 2008.2. For all of the recording materials, we segmented them respectively according to monosyllabic words and two-syllable word, so there is more than 18,000 voice samples in total. After that, we can label speech samples, extract acoustic parameters and establish Linxia dialect speech database.3. We summarized the phonology of Linxia hui_accent, including initial consonants, finals, tones and pronunciation features.4. We studied sound patterns of Linxia hui-accent from the acoustic perspective, including the patterns of vowel, consonant and tone.We extracted vowel formants F1, F2, F3 to study the vowel pattern, and drew acoustic vowel chart and formant model map.We study the tone pattern by both of the value of pitch and duration. The main distribution of tone pattern shows the steady and variable parts in each tone.To study the consonant pattern, we made research respectively according to three types of phonemes. The first type of phoneme is stops consonants, studying the feature of VOT, locus and duration of occlusion segment. The second type of phoneme is fricative. We studied the fricative duration, as well as inspected the relationship between fricative duration and tone, and the relationship between fricative duration and finals. The third type of phoneme is affricate, by examining the duration, as well as the relationship between affricate duration and tone.5. The on-going variations of tone are found from group statistical analysis of pitches according to speakers'gender to analyze the cause of the variable parts in each tone and to reveals the tone features based on sociolinguistics.6. By contrast their phonetic feature, we revealed the pronunciation differences between Linxia dialect and Mandarin, as well as, the difference of people's voice in hui-accent.7. We made use of different statistical analysis to study the relationship between tone and consonant duration, as well as the relationship between vowel and the consonant duration.
