The Research Of Narrative About The Chinese Comics

The relationship between literary and image is one of hot pots in the academic field of literature and painting and it is implicated that this relationship is typically embodied by Chinese picture-story book art, also called Chinese cosmics. From point of narratology, this dissertative study econstructs the historical scenes of the picture-story book by application of theories and methods of art history, cultural history, pattern analysis and others. In the specific context of developing history of Chinese cosmics, all relevant historical documents had been sorted, summarized and differentiated, and the image and text structures of Chinese cosmics had been technologically and theoretically ananlysed. Thus, we can figure out the inherent connection and potential distinction of image narration and text narration. Furthermore, the internal factors and logical relation of the historical evolution of picture-story book art may be evaluated.This thesis consists of four parts: in the Part I, By reviewing the historical evolution of picture-story book art, its characteristics were generalized and summerazied from a perspective of"verb-image"relation. It can be concluded that presentation of verb-image relationhip was always applied and palyed key role in the history of Chinese cosmics. The summarized feathures of Chinese cosmics were as follows: comprehensity, visibility, continuity, narrativety and popularity. In the Part II, by reviewing choice of the picture -story book's narrative theme and the value, it may be verified that the theme is the soul of Chinese cosmics. After sorting and classifying of the theme of Chinese cosmics, it can be deducted that various themes and elements were mutually dependent. The 3rd Part mainly explores the nature and characteristics of narrative image. The focal point is placed on analysis of structure and artistic expressions of narrative image. The Part IV analyses the characteristics and composition of narrative scripts.Taking together, it can be implied that narrativety is the essential property of picture-story book art, and mutual dependence of script and image presented the narrative rules, which clarified the actual causes and pathway of historical evolution of Chinese cosmics.
