Modern Chinese Newspaper Language Evidence Of The Scope Of Inspection

This thesis has seven chapters.The first chapter: I mentioned the definition of evidentiality and standard for classifying, and introduced some related theories and methods. I made the need of evidentiality clearly from the perspective of epistemic modality; the introduction of the theory about territory of information– the basic theory in this thesis; mention about the relevance between evidentiality and cognitive psychology; summary of the pragmatic features of evidentiality. The second and third chapter: StatisticsIn the second chapter, I showed the statistics in Chinese newspaper.The population of the data is Renminribao. 13 evidential vocabularies in this thesis classified in to four groups,"judge-renwei, yiwei, juede","estimation-keneng, yexu, huoxu, xingxu, dagai","guess-haoxiang, sihu, fangfu"and"hearsay-jushuo, tingshuo"and researched the use frequency in the newspapers. According to"Newspaper research method basic vocabulary", I detected prototypical members in above four groups and evidential basic vocabularies and also considered how evidentiality works in the newspaper from the pragmatic based on the statistics data of each edition.In the third chapter, I showed the statistics in Japanese newspaper. The way of classifying and research method are basically same as the second chapter. However, I considered how evidentiality works in newspaper from the perspective of pragmatics, by using the comparison of the data in Asahi newspaper in 2008 with the data in 1966 used for my master thesis.The forth chapter deals with comparisons. After I tried to analyze the changes of evidentiality due to passage of time in Japanese newspaper, I compared the differences between evidentiality in Chinese newspaper and that in Japanese.In the fifth chapter, I confirmed the readers"awareness as evidentiality in newspaper through the questionnaire survey, and based on the survey results, I got to the root of differences which caused between the readers"expectation and the actual their awareness as the use of evidentiality in newspaper.In the sixth chapter, I got the roots of the differences of awareness as evidentiality which caused between senders and recipients. From the viewpoint of the three, newspaper, press persons and readers, I classified the differences of awareness as objective report between senders and recipients through the media progress by using the theory about territory of information. I also found the cause of differences per each category from the perspective of cognitive psychology.The seventh chapter deals with summary. I summarized the content of this thesis, after that I reviewed the parts of immature, listed the problems and defined them as the target of my future research.
