On The Essence View Of Literature: Historical Introspection And Contemporary Construction

Our research on the view of the literature essence is largely due to the contemporary thinking on this issue, but the contemporary thinking on this issue is due to the appearance of a concept of anti-essentialism literature in contemporary Chinese literature academic field. So, what's the content of anti-essentialism in the contemporary Chinese literature theory? All views of literature essence are based on certain view of philosophical essence, and only to reveal from the historical and philosophical dimensions (particularly based on the comparison between Chinese and Western ), can we correctly grasp philosophy foundations and their differences from the views of Chinese and Western literature essence, clarify its influence on the respective views of Chinese and Western literature essence and their literature narrative pattern, to avoid simply equating the real crux of the production of contemporary Chinese literature theory with essentialism concept and its mode of thinking which is traditionally metaphysical mode of meta-narration on the basis of western philosophy, resulting in a"misplacement"of theoretical context, which is not conducive to, or even impedes the production of contemporary Chinese literature theory out of dilemma and the theoretical reconstruction.Starting from the above thinking, it constitutes two issues we should focus on the research of the view of literature essence, that is, a historical introspection and contemporary theory reconstruction, yet it is clear that these two issues are interlinked and inseparable: the former constitutes the latter's theoretical premise; while the latter is the purpose of the former theory. Specifically, it is divided into the following sections.First(Chapterâ… toâ…¡), with a historical reflection on the views of western traditional literature essence, explains the subversion trend of the literature concept of anti-essentialism from modernism to post-modernism. Examines and investigates the philosophical basis of the view of western traditional literature essence, that is, the influence of the metaphysical tradition with cognitive rationality on western traditional literature essence since Plato's, and makes specific theoretical analysis combining with the view of western traditional literature essence with simulation theory, performance theory, form theory and aesthetic theory as the representatives; for the western literature ideas of anti-essentialism, investigates and describes its origin from the modern to the postmodern, discloses that anti-essentialism as a western trend of thought penetrating from the modern to the postmodern which originated in the irrational turn of modern western philosophy and fueled by existentialism, deconstructionism, analytic philosophy, and new pragmatism etc., has always been reconstructing their own"meta-narration", and therefore reconstructing their respective theory in the subversion trend of traditional view of essence, and in the philosophy and literature theory when deconstructs metaphysical essentialism in a rational sense of western traditional cognition.Second (Chapter III to IV), contemplates the history of the view of Chinese literature essence from tradition to modern. Examines and investigates the influence of the philosophical basis of the view of Chinese traditional literature essence, namely, the metaphysics in the sense of political ethics, on the view of Chinese traditional literature essence, and makes a specific theoretical analysis from the Identity discrimination of"orthodox"and"heresy"and the lawful identity appeal of marginal genre; makes clear that Chinese modern literature has a new political"moral principle"to take when removes the old function of conveying the Tao since its initial beginning for the need of political salvation. The literature"to convey the Tao"theory as a mainstream statement of legitimacy identity to the view of Chinese traditional literature essence in Chinese history have not changed although it has a new epoch connotation and historical significance in Chinese modern context. There is a historical scanning from performance theory, reflection theory to aesthetic reflection theory and aesthetic ideology theory on the view of Chinese modern literature essence. And makes a theoretical analysis and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages combining with a paradoxical fact of"anti-tradition"and"unchanged tradition".Third(chapterâ…¤to VI), Illustrates and analyzes the view of anti-essentialism and the discussion induced in today's China. Analyzes its"insight"and"blindness", and makes a necessary re-clarification before theoretical reconstruction, makes clear that the introspection on the essentialism of contemporary Chinese literature theory and its mode of thinking is not and should not be stopped at the criticism and clarification by the anti-essentialist, otherwise, it will be not only incomplete, but also easily lead to simply confusing the real crux of production of contemporary Chinese literature theory with meta-narration featuring metaphysical tradition as the basis of western philosophy, which is called the concept of essentialism and its mode of thinking of meta-narration mode of"the truth"ideology (with the basis of metaphysics in the rational sense of cognition), which will result in the"blindness"and even"shielding"the concept of essentialism and its way of thinking of meta-narration mode of political ideology (with the basis of metaphysics in the sense of political ethics, although with the"logic"support of western"Theory of Knowledge") which is the real crux of the production of contemporary Chinese literature theory, going against its profound deconstruction, and in a fundamental sense, not conducive to the radical change and theory reconstruction of the production status of contemporary Chinese literature theory.Fourth (Chapter VII), through several re-thinking and problem analysis to explore the necessity of putting into words for literature essence, and illustrate the possible ways and proper dimensions for theory reconstruction. Makes clear that we should construct for contemporary Chinese literature theory after the anti-essentialism, which is not and should not be extreme deconstruction, and should individually put into open and pluralistic words through"unofficial writing mode"and reconstruct the theory of essence view, which is conducive to the production of contemporary Chinese literature theory out of the essentialism concept and its mode of thinking of meta-narration (with the basis of the metaphysics in the sense of political ethics)of political ideology, and develops a broader individual discourse space for a re-statement of literature essence. While the reconstruction of this theory does not mean to"whatever"the extreme of relativism, but to maintain necessary theoretical reflection and measure of value and its tension, namely, adhere to the position of theory introspection, avoid to this or that appear as"essentialism"theoretical discourse and its mode of thinking, and caused to some new thinking fetter; keep the due practical care, rebuild its latitude of reality, which should be an indispensable link to make strong and effective theoretical response to contemporary Chinese literature development realistic problem; adhere to the human science basis, through the theoretical interpretation to the meaning of literature existence and spiritual value, to look for spiritual homeland of Human Beings, and provide literary ground for the"poetical dwelling"and more humane living to promote the progress of social civilization in contemporary China; by the transition from legislator to interpreter, establish a dialogue relationship with the Other for the object, which based on the context of dialogue, instead of requiring someone to accord with his own theoretical interpretation, also not be to meet each other, resulting in two-way interaction process to reach some kind of understanding and communication, rather than in autarky, which forms new isolation and rigid thinking against the innovation and development of contemporary Chinese literature theory in its theory reconstruction.
