Comperative Study Of Awakening Of Mahayana Faith And The Heart And Nature Theory Of Idealist Philosophy In The Song Dynasty

The author had taken the ancient China and India history and culture as the background, chosen ancient India Buddhism heart and nature theory and Song Dynasty idealist philosophy of heart and nature theory as the target, ancient India and China heart and nature theory as the mainline, conducted comparative study of Awakening of mahayana faith and the heart and nature theory of idealist philosophy in the Song Dynasty, explored the relationships and effects between them. He had payed attention to the explanation of concept and the comparative study of inner relationship and mutual connections by using intellectual history method, philosophy method, philology method and comparative study method.The structure and main contents of the thesis:This thesis can be divieded into four parts except from the introduction and conclusion. Chapter one:the Buddhism theory of the Awakening of Mahayana faith, chapter two:Awakening of Mahayana faith and the chinization of Buddihism, chapter three:the heart and nature theory of Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan, chapter four:the mutual interaction of Awakening of Mahayana faith and the heart and nature theory in the Confucian. Chapter two, three and four and are the focus of the paper. In chapter two, the author had answered the question on Awakening of Mahayana faith and the chinization of Buddihism from the angle of the mutual effecting and assimilating on China and India culture, which implied the theoretical thinking and multicultural view under the big culture concept. There is no boundary of culture and concept and we can not confuse intellectual questions with political matters, we should achieve mutual respect and seek common ground while reserving differences when treating the foreign culture; we should make best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages and utilize the strong points when treating the different national culture; to replace the confrontation by dialogue when communicating with other cultures.Buddhism is not only a religion but also a philosophy. "The significant difference of China and India Buddhism philosophy lies in the difference of the heart and nature theory, which leads to the entire theory difference of the China and India Buddihism". Such circumstances were caused by the different lifestyle and culture background of China and India. "The China Buddhism pays attention to the reality, the individual, the moral practice and the 'utility' of sentient being in the earthly life which had changed the tedency of the two schools of India Buddhism Mahayana:emptiness and existence, which emphasised the identity and neglect the reality". In Sui and Tang dynasty, the Buddhism schools with Chinese characteristics such as tian Tai sect, hua-yen school and Zen Buddhism are fomally established. The author had concluded and compared the heart and nature theory of Zhu Xi and Lu Jiuyuan who are the representative figures of the idealist philosophy in Song dynasty. He had represented mutual interaction of awakening of Mahayana faith and the heart and nature theory of the Confucian from four aspects. That is, the conditions for interacting Buddhism and Confusion, the mutual solvation of both by the effect of awakening of Mahayana faith, the mutual interaction of the heart and nature primal awareness and the Buddhism and Confusion, from the heart and nature primal clean to primal quiet, from characters of variety to all living creatures bears Buddha nature. The author had put forward some new viewpoints and understandings towards the controversial questions in the acdamic world. Such as, is there any difference of the thusness between and thusness gate and the arising and ceasing gate? The author believed that they are almost identical; took Zen Buddhism as an example, the mainly difference between northern and southern school lies in the different opinions of "cinta". The northern school of Shen xiu had more influence on the idealist philosophy of Cheng and Zhu, the sourthem school of Hui neng had more influence on the heart and nature theory of Lu and Wang.
