The scientific development in twentieth century can be characterized by "Crossing and Comprehensive of Discipline".Cognitive Linguistics, as one of the important branches of Cognitive Science, is a combined interdisciplinary of Cognitive Psychology and Linguistics. It is one kind of linguistic schools that studies the universal principles of language and the relationship between human cognition. Conceptual metaphor theory is one of popular research fields of Cognitive Linguistics, which emphasizes that metaphor exists everywhere, not only in people's language, but also in people's thinking and behavior. The human's conceptual system is built on metaphor. Now various studies about conceptual metaphor are in full swing.Etiology and pathogenesis theory is very important basic theory of Chinese Medicine, which studies the reasons, development and change mechanisms of diseases. It is the core of Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment in Chinese Medicine. We have found that there is less specialized study of Chinese conceptual metaphors from cognitive perspective by collecting current literature. But scholars have gradually recognized that the concept of Chinese Medicine is different from logic concept; the language of Chinese Medicine has characteristics of metaphor; theoretical system of Chinese Medicine has its own unique cognitive style. These useful explorating researches provide us very important reference value and research ideas. So this subject is to study the language of etiology and pathogenesis theory from the perspective of Cognitive Linguistics in the context of Cognitive Science, Chinese Medicine classics and Chinese modern language as main corpus. It could be better understood the metaphorical characteristics of Chinese language, as well as the scientific value of Chinese Medicine. The paper is divided into two parts. The first part has reviewed the ancient and modern literature of etiology and pathogenesis theory. The second part is divided into seven sections, which is the cognitive research of etiology and pathogenesis theory, the language of etiology and pathogenesis in Chinese Medicine classics of "Yellow Emperor","Treatise on Cold""Golden Chamber" and "Provisional Certificate Essence of Contemporary Doctors" as main corpus. The first section briefly describes the historical development of metaphor in Cognitive Linguistics, the establishment of conceptual metaphor theory, as well as its types and functions. Through the collation and analysis of research corpus, we have initially summed up six common types of Chinese conceptual metaphor of the language of etiology and pathogenesis theory in the second section:natural metaphors, war metaphors, container metaphors, conduit metaphors, orientation metaphors, anthropomorphic metaphor. The third section discusses the rhetoric, economic and cognitive function of conceptual metaphor of etiology and pathogenesis language, and summarizes the characteristics of universality, systematic, conflict, scientific and so on. In the fourth section, we have discussed the theoretical basis of the construction of conceptual metaphor in etiology and pathogenesis theory from the perspective of embodied philosophy, we have found that the use of Chinese conceptual metaphor is not arbitrary, but is closely related to the ancient's experiences of physics and space, agricultural production, natural climate, politics and war and other familiar environment and things. In the fifth section, we have elaborated the psychological basis of the construction of conceptual metaphor in etiology and pathogenesis theory from the perspective of image schema theory. The conclusion is that the basic image schema of container, part-whole, center-periphery, up and down, link and path had existed in the consciousness of the ancients. On the basis of it, the relevant Chinese conceptual metaphor has formed. The sixth section discusses the two complex cognitive models-Yin and Yang Theory and Five Elements Theory, which is the psychological characterization of the ancients to classify and organize everything in the world, construct the conceptual metaphor of etiology and pathogenesis language. In the seventh section, as the specific disease "stroke" is for example, we discuss the common types of conceptual metaphor of etiology and pathogenesis of "stroke", and try to analyze the cognitive root causes of the diverse origin domain of conceptual metaphor of etiology and pathogenesis of Stroke disease.Conceptual metaphor theory of Cognitive Linguistics has opened up a unique and new perspective for the interpretation of concepts and language of Chinese Medicine. It can reveal the inner and deep cognitive rules of Chinese language. This subject not only deepens our understanding of Chinese Medicine concepts, language and theory, but also widens the scope of metaphor in Cognitive Linguistics, and to provide information for further research.
